While at the UMKC Conservatory of Music, Steve met his wife Jody Mantarro and they were married on September 2, 1978, in Mystic, CT. For over 30 years, Steve was a professional musician in Kansas City and played clarinet, saxophone, and flute at many different venues around town. He served on the Board of Directors of the local Musicians Union for several terms. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where he enjoyed sharing his musical talents.
