Dr. Vimala Seshumurty, 70, of Prairie Village, Kan., died on Feb. 9 after a long illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1937, in the Tamil Nadu state of India, and moved to the area in 1974. She worked for many years as a pediatrician. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Ponnuru Seshumurty; her brothers Christopher and Noel “Mohan” Choweller; her sister Leeta Choweller; her sons, Dr. Harish Ponnuru, Dr. Satish Ponnuru, and Ramesh Ponnuru; their wives; and four grandchildren. A memorial will be held on Feb. 17 at Bethany Lutheran Church, which she faithfully attended for more than 30 years. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to the Health Partnership Clinic of Johnson County, where she volunteered after her retirement.
