Betty June Grantham

Betty June Grantham, 90, passed away on September 18, 2015 at Seasons Care Center. She was born August 17, 1925 to Ben and Grace Matlock in Springfield, Missouri where she attended SMS, now Missouri State. In high school, she met the feisty love of her life, John Grantham, whom she married on June 12, 1948. Betty loved music and played piano and drums in her teen years. During that time, lifelong friendships began with the girls who would later form The Bridge Club. Her children fondly remember falling asleep to the chatter and laughter at those parties, hoping for leftover treats the next day. Betty loved playing tennis and golf, long walks, church activities, and her family. Music remained a passion throughout her life and despite the challenges she faced in her last years, she could still remember all the words to her favorite hymns. Betty was predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers Charles and John David, and step-grandson, Brian Sturman. She is survived by children, Susie Sturman (Steve) and Geary Grantham (Jan), grandchildren, Kristi Mall (Rob), John Boenker (Korie), Brian Boenker, Jay Grantham (Erin), and Drew Grantham, step-grandson, Britt Sturman, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 25 at Heartland, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or First Baptist Church of Raytown Bus Ministry, 10550 E. 350 Hwy, Raytown 64138. The family sends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and volunteers at Seasons and Groves Community Hospice for their compassion and support.
