Lorene Ruth Duffer

Lorene Ruth Duffer, 84 of Independence, Missouri passed away May 15, 2015 at her home surrounded by her Son, Granddaughters and Great Grandchildren.  Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 30th, 2015 at Knob Noster, Missouri.  A memory service will be held 2:00 PM, May 31st at Mission Woods Community of Christ, 2800 Duncan Rd, Blue Springs, Missouri 64015.

Lorene was born August 4, 1930 in Independence, Missouri, one of three children.  Born to Lewis and Winnie Mauzey.  She was preceded in death by her Sister Leona, parents and husband William (Bill) Duffer.

Survivors include; her son, Gary and his wife Erna; granddaughters, Lisa Cox and husband Charles, Katherine Duffer-Edwards; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Cody and wife Catie Edwards, Rebecca and Morgan Cox and Joseph, Dakota and Cheyenne Edwards; brother, Elvin Mauzey and his wife Elaine; as well as many family members of the Duffer, Vick and Mauzey families.

She was an active member of the Community of Christ Church Oak Hill Congregation where she enjoyed providing worship settings for the services.  She enjoyed cooking, cake decorating, textile painting, sewing and most of all flower gardening.  The last day of her life was spent among the flowers in her front yard as the Crossroads Day of Hope Hospice team provided care and plants for her garden.

She spent her early years in Independence, Missouri and Holden, Missouri.  She married Bill in 1950, lived in Kansas City where their son was born in 1951.  they moved to Denver and eventually settled in Pittsburg, California.  Lorene and Bill traveled to Ajo, Arizona in their retirement years.  They returned to Independence, Missouri.  After traveling to enjoy a life surrounded by her beloved family and church.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that God is not the cause of this sadness. But He WILL soon fix it. Soon He will fulfill the promise made to us in John 5:28&29, and Revelation 21:3&4. I sincerely hope you find comfort in these scriptures about our future here in Earth…Jw.org
