Marjorie Jean Ellis

Marjorie Jean Ellis, 90, of Columbia, died April 10, 2014 at Lenoir Woods.  She was born January 18, 1924 in Mattoon, IL, to the late Walter and Hazel (Sullan) Nash.  On August 25, 1944, she was married to Maurice H. Ellis, who recently preceded her in death after 69 years of life together. Before retiring, she held numerous positions including cartographer, case worker and secretary, most recently in the corporate offices of Holiday Inn. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ellis-Ordway and son-in-law Fred Ordway of Jefferson City, MO, two grandchildren, Ellie OrdwayWest (Josh) and Stephen Ordway of St. Louis, MO, two nieces, Louise Nash and Susan Tong of Tinley Park, IL, and two very special cousins, Col. John K. Gibler, USA (Ret), of Marion AL, and Col. James C. Gibler, USAF (Ret) of Lubbock TX.  She was preceded in death by one brother, John Nash of Clifton IL, one sister, Betty Munroe of Durham, NH, one niece, Marjorie Munroe of Newmarket, NH, and one cousin, Jane Gibler Allen of Bowling Green, KY. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on April 27th at Epple Chapel at Lenoir Woods Retirement Center.   Memorial contributions may be given to Lenoir Woods Benevolent Care Fund.
