Robert Ellsworth Grove

Robert (Bob) Ellsworth Grove passed away May 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Bob was born on December 20, 1952 in Marburg, Germany to Army Major Ellsworth and LaVonne Grove of Louisburg, KS. Growing up in a military family, Bob lived in Germany and Japan before moving back to the United States. His family eventually settled in Louisburg, KS and he graduated from LHS in 1971. Bob joined the US Army and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1981.  In 1984, he married Jeri Lee Grove and had 3 children: Amanda (1984), Joshua (1985), and Bobbi Jean (1987).  They joined Jeri’s children Sarah (1977) and Katherine (1981).  Bob and Jeri were married 32 years and had seven granddaughters and four grandsons.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth and LaVonne, and one son, Robert Jr.

Bob loved the six years he spent living on a farm, loved to camp with his family, and loved shining up his truck before hitting the road. He was a jokester and often had a wise crack to share.  He loved to laugh and play with his grandchildren. No one ever went home empty handed from PaPa’s house.  Bob taught his children to love racing and on the weekends could occasionally be found at the local dirt track. He loved to tease his wife and was always buying her ‘gifts’.   He will be missed by many and has left an imprint on us all.

Services for immediate family will be held at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.
