Craig Martin Belgarde

Craig Martin Belgarde, 53, of Raytown Missouri, passed away on May 29th, 2023.

Services for Craig will be held Wednesday June 7th, 2023, at Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM. His Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM.

Craig was born in Rolla, North Dakota to Roger and Jeanette on October 15th, 1969. In his youth, he kept active with outdoor activities. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family. He loved the Northern winters, and would often tell stories of building snow forts, snowmobiling, skiing and shoveling snow as deep as the roof of the house. Sports was an important part of Craig’s life. His passions were wrestling and football. So it was no surprise that he was able to win the title of State Champion in wrestling and assist his football team in winning division titles. He was a devoted fan of the Kansas City
Chiefs and Notre Dame.

He attended St. Mary’s College where he continued to participate in the games he loved. Craig was a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians, of Belcourt, North Dakota and was incredibly proud of his Native American heritage.

In 1994, Craig married Dawn, his wife of 28 years. Together they raised their two children, Jacob and Jessica, and were blessed with two grandchildren, Theone and Jonathan. Craig was a man of many hats. His career spanned from replacing telephone poles across the Midwest, to metal and machine fabrication, utility work and sales of vacuums, cable TV, cars and equipment. His hobbies were as varied as his career. Golf, going to the firing range, attending professional sports events and relaxing at a live music performance were just a few of his favorites. Craig had a kind soul. He contributed to St. Jude’s Hospital and the Red Cross throughout his life. He loved all creatures and enjoyed the company of many pets through the years. Family was a priority for Craig. He loved to just hangout, share a meal and spend time with his loved ones.

We may never know why he was taken from us so soon. The heaviness of his absence will forever be felt in our hearts.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents Jeanette and Roger Belgarde.

Craig is survived by his wife Dawn, children Jacob (of Raytown, Missouri) and Jessica (of Boise, Idaho), grandchildren; Jonathan and Theone, his older brother Roger and wife Tracy (of Herman, Nebraska), younger sister Teri and husband Fred (of St. John, North Dakota) and their families, as well as many extended family members and friends.

`Growing up with Craig & being able to say he was one of my best friends will be something I cherish always. Whether we were pushing each other to be better in practice, supporting each other in that season’s sport or just in life, we knew we could always count on each other. We shared many laughs, a few tears and many wonderful experiences. As happens all too often, we got older, went down our respective paths and didn’t talk to each other as often as we should have. It made the occasions when we were able to get together that much more special. You know someone is special in your life when you meet up after a long time apart & you fall right back into it like you’d just seen each other yesterday. I will miss you my friend & brother and will think of you often. My prayers & condolences go out to your entire family. Love you Bubba!
